Some women would swear that a great fitting skirt or a pair of shoes will change your life. At Shoppe 3130, we agree – well, to some degree. Shoppe 3130 is a local non profit ministry that seeks to provide hope and encouragement to women in the CSRA through Christ centered life and job skills training classes. Our goal at Shoppe 3130 – to be a part of breaking the cycle of poverty in the lives of women in our community.
At first glance, our ministry looks like a clothing boutique. Shoppe 3130 has a second hand clothing and home boutique, located at 1126 Broad Street in downtown Augusta. The Shoppe is set up like a swanky little place for all women to shop. Shoppe 3130 is a place where women want to come, place where women feel beautiful, but that’s not all. Because the prices at Shoppe 3130 are so low, comparable to that of Goodwill or Salvation Army- skirts and pants for $5, suit sets for $8, shirts for only $3 – this is not only a place to want to shop for the experience and fun of it but also for the savings that are sure to be found!
All of the clothing in the store is donated- some new some used. Every item is inspected for quality. If an item has holes or stains it will not go onto the sales floor. We want women to shop with a peace of mind and with dignity. We believe that just because someone is shopping second hand does not mean they need second rate service or quality.
Shoppe 3130 goes the extra mile in adding those special touches. Each customer is greeted by our sales staff who are trained to encourage women as they shop. When a customer makes a purchase, she will leave with her items in a gift bag with tissue and ribbon. Why? Because she is special and we want her to feel that way.
Not only does Shoppe 3130 have a store in the downtown area to encourage women and offer great clothing at excellent prices but there is more to it! Shoppe 3130 uses the money from clothing sells to fund a job training program called Ready Suit Go. Ready Suit Go offers 12 week classes for women ready to learn and take a step towards moving out of poverty. Currently Shoppe 3130 is working on partnerships with local agencies to become a hosts- meaning Shoppe 3130 will come into an agency for 12 weeks and provide the Ready Suit Go classes with that agency’s clients. At the end of the 12 weeks each participant who graduates (meaning she has completed at least 10 out of the 12 classes) will be suited in 5 complete professional outfits from Shoppe 3130 to begin her job search and interviewing process in the community.
So as you celebrate National Secondhand Clothing Day on August 25th this year – consider stopping by Shoppe 3130. Be encouraged and help break the cycle of poverty in our city.

Located at 1126 Broad Street, in the heart of downtown Augusta, Shoppe 3130 is a jewel to those who want a great deal on awesome clothing and gifts as well as an encouraging shopping experience that also makes a difference in our community.
Shoppe 3130 is not your typical thrift store. Actually, you won’t hear us call our Shoppe a thrift store but rather a secondhand clothing and home boutique. Our shoppe has the feel of a quaint boutique but the prices of a Goodwill or Salvation Army store. We also carry a small selection of home decor items and some one of a kind handmade gifts.
The handmade gifts are created by our Directors, Jennifer and Jesse Elliott, who are also MOST Missionaries with the North American Missions Board. MOST stands for Missionaries on Short Term… technically that simply means Jennifer and Jesse are re-appointed every two years to the place they serve AND they are self-supporting missionaries. The handmade items help fund the ministry as well as raise support for them as missionaries.
The other items in the shoppe are gently used clothing (every item is inspected before it hits the sales floor), vintage clothing, jewelry, shoes, handbags, make-up, under garments, and maternity clothing. All of these items are sold and the profits all directly support the ministry. By the way – maternity is the only consignment that is taken at Shoppe 3130.
Though Shoppe 3130 is a store that is open to the public – it is much more than that! It is a purposeful ministry that seeks to encourage women. The purpose of Shoppe 3130 is to offer hope and self esteem to women in the CSRA through Christ-centered life and jobs skills courses, professional suiting, and community resourcing.
The Shoppe’s ministry includes a program called “Ready, Suit, Go” which consists of a 12 week series of life and job skills training classes. The classes are held all through-out the year. Class topics include: Basic Work Etitique, Dressing for Success, Communication Skills, How to Have a Successful Interview, Time Management and Goal Setting, Balacing Work and Home, Basic Computer Skills – Intro to Microsoft Word, Budgeting, Conflict Resoultion and more.
Women who participate in the Ready Suit Go Classes must attend 10 out of 12 of the classes to graduate. After graduation, each participant will be part of a graduation dinner celebration where her accomplishments are celebrated. She also receives a weeks worth of professional clothing from Shoppe 3130 as well as a gift basket filled with items to help her as she takes the next step towards self sufficiency. She will also walk away with an updated resume and a world of knowledge to move forward in her life.
See, Shoppe 3130 is so much more than just another store. Stop by and check out the Shoppe. Make a purchase and help make a difference. Donate clothing and donate hope. Volunteer and give back to our community. Make a financial gift and invest in changing lives by giving a hand up and not just another hand out. Pray for the minsitry of Shoppe 3130 and see what God has is store!
